Dear Debaters,

Our world has been ravaged by war since antiquity, fought by fire, weapons, gas and above all, words. A war of wits that has been waged ever since the first humans could string together sentences of differing opinions. Whether it be a dispute over a slew of trivialities or the fundamentals of life, these intellectual wars, like their bloodier counterparts, leave only one victor.
And that is precisely why we debate; a hunger for the glory of victory, of vanquishing one’s opponents. We build ourselves in every aspect through the art of argument, cultivating confidence, eloquence and deep connection. Our abilities shine through conflict. If all is fair in love and war, debate is the embodiment of the love of civilised war.
Debate, like every great battle, is a dual-natured activity; an art form with every word painting another stroke of a picture of reason. Debate is also a fight for dominance, every point and argument an attempt to cement one's views. Reasoning, analysis, logic, clarity- all byproducts of a good argument. Good argument encourages broad thinking expanding beyond the narrow confines of ‘what we know’ towards ‘what we can explore’. It is thus a quest for the discovery of a panacea to aid the plague of ignorance. By debating, we thus become aware of not merely our knowledge but also its limitations. Coupled with grit, determination and civilized violence that burns as a flame within us, our desire for valuable debate drives us to be right and to be heard.
This principle is precisely what DUELLUM DIALOGUS is built upon. We return for our second edition with broader horizons, now an all-India competition where participants will meet individuals from every facet of the country. They will vociferously engage in this 'war of wits', learning the art of debating, growing as people and emerging as pioneers of a new age while drawing inspiration from the conflicts of old. The Deens Academy invites the enlistment of India's best to form the regiment, the finest men and women to serve as soldiers on the battlefield. May the best team win and remain glorious forever ever after.

It is with great pride and jubilation that The Deens Academy unveils the second edition of its Annual Interschool Debate competition; Duellum Dialogus, which returns on the 7th of August, 2025.
This year aims to embolden the same invigorating spirit that shaped the previous edition, but with new additions that are sure to excite every debater. This year, Duellum Dialogus raises the stakes, hosting avid debaters from all over India in an online competition. This year, all the country is a stage, but only one victor will emerge.
Whether one has an army of accolades or is beginning their debating journey, we hope that everyone can seize this opportunity to present fresh arguments, broaden their perspective and ultimately duel in what will undoubtedly be a battle to remember.
